Vadodara, Dec 28 (UNI) Consul General of Israel Daniel Zonshine today strongly condemned the assassination of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, saying that it was ''a very sad thing for democracy in Pakistan.'' Speaking high of Ms Bhutto for her continuous fight for democracy, Mr Zonshine said the killing of the leader by terrorists was a bad sign not only for Pakistan but also for the world.

''Here are certain people trying to change the political process in Pakistan. I hope Pakistan will survive it and continue in a democratic way,'' he said.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Zonshine said the countries hit by terrorism should formulate policies to effectively deal with the terror menace.

The Consul General of Israel is on a two-day visit to Gujarat in connection with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art Biotech laboratory at Halol tomorrow. The Rs 25-crore project has been set up in a joint collaboration between Vadodara-based Century pharmaceuticals and Israel's Target-In Biopharmaceuticals.
