Heroin worth Rs 4 cr seized, 5 held
Lucknow, Dec 28 (UNI) The Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh Police today busted a smuggling syndidate in Gorakhpur with the arrest of five persons possessing four kg heroin, estimated at Rs four crore in the international market.
Working on a tip-off, a police team cordoned off the Tiwaripur area and arrested Mehfooz Ahmed Khan, Rehman Hussain, Ajay Kumar, Banka Maurya and Sameer Chauhan.
On being frisked, a large amount psychotropic substance was recovered from their possession.
On interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, saying they transported the consignment from Nepal.
They also disclosed to have their network in Deoria and Kushinagar districts of UP.
