DGP asserts 'people - friendly' police service in AP
Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, Dec 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) SSP Yadav today said the State police was taking steps to provide police services at the doorsteps of the common people by adopting 'people-friendly' policies.
Addressing a Press conference here in Prakasham district, Mr Yadav said the department was also giving priority to the welfare of families of police personnel. Besides, advanced training would be given to cops to handle extremists and check terrorist activities in the State.
Stating that the police would seek suggestions from peoples' representatives to strengthen itself, he, however, added that the department would not allow them to interfere in the administration of police department.
To a query, the DGP said ''we would not disclose information on what kind of steps were taken to root out naxal menace in the State. Police would not even reveal the names of the police personnel who got the awards for successfully fighting naxals.
