New Delhi, Dec 28: The BJP's victory in Himachal Pradesh has been a double delight for the party which is still basking in its success in Gujarat.

Partymen burst crackers to celebrate the decisive victory with an overwhelming majority in the 68-member Assembly. Activists of the Delhi Pradesh BJP under the leadership of Dr Harsh Vardhan were at the party headquarters to celebrate the win while former BJP President M Venkaiah Naidu and senior leader Sushma Swaraj were among the several senior BJP leaders present at the party's office.

Mr Naidu said the verdict in Himachal was a vote against the Congress and its corrupt administration in the state, while Mrs Swaraj maintained that the party's success was not only limited to Gujarat but also in HP, where the party was expecting to fare well in the polls.

The UPA, Mr Naidu said, was on a losing spree ever since it came to power at the Centre. The Himalayan state, which had a substantial number of people in the Defence forces, were also unhappy about the soft policies of the Congress on terrorism. The party had lost Bihar, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and now Himachal. Though the BJP could not make it in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress could not make it either, he said.
