Porbandar 'Bandh' to protest against attack on businessman

Porbandar, Dec 27 (UNI) Business establishments remained closed in the city today to protest the attack on a businessman, allegedly by BJP Councillor Ramji Lodhari and two others.

The 'Bandh' call was given by the business fraternity in the city.

According to police, Kirana merchant Kanji Gordhan Lakhani was at his shop last evening when the BJP Councillor and two others, Riyaz Mansuri and Pratap Lodhari, stormed into the shop and threatened to kill his children, if he did not give them Rs 5 lakh. The trio also thrashed Kanji.

The police, later, arrested the Councillor Riyaz and Pratap after a complaint was lodged by the businessman. Ramji was drunk when police nabbed him.

Ramji wanted to purchase the house of Kanji but the businessman sold it to some other party. Displeased by the businessman's act, Ramji allegedly attacked the businessman and demanded money, sources said.
