Srinagar, Dec 27 (UNI) Parts of the world famous Dal Lake were again partially forzen early this morning after the minimum temperature dipped to minus 4.4 degree celsius, 2.5 degree below normal.

However, Drass, second coldest place in the world after Siberia, was coldest in the state with minimum temperature recorded at minus 20 degree while at Leh it was minus 16.8 degree and kargil recorded 16, official sources said.

Because of clear sky as Western Disturbances (WD) from Arabian sea coming through Afghanistan and Pakistan were very weak, which leads to parts of the lake freezing.

However, since the maximum temperature was above normal, the frozen parts again melted as the day progressed.

Tapes and water in small pounds besides nallahs were also frozen because of cold.

The authorities have already stopped supply of water through tapes because of freezing temperature. Water is being supplied through water tankers in these places.
