Chennai, Dec 27 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister S R Balasubramoniyan today warned the DMK government against LTTE infiltration into Tamil Nadu, in the wake of the militant organisation ''losing ground'' in Sri Lanka.
Talking to newspersons here, the former Congress Legislature Party leader said there was a possibility of LTTE sneaking into the state under the guise of refugees and the state must step up the vigil in the coastal areas.
In view of the worsening situtation after the island government launched an offensive in the LTTE controlled areas, the LTTE might take advantage of the influx of refugees and sneak into the state, the Congress leader said.
The infiltration of the outlawed LTTE would spell doom to the security of our country and hence the DMK government should strengthen the security in the coastal areas, he said.
Pointing out that LTTE Chief V Prabakaran was a proclaimed offender in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, he said the government should firmly deal with political parties and other organisations in the state, which offered support to the banned LTTE.
Mr Balasubramoniyan said unemployment problem was driving many youth in the state to indulge in extremist activities and suggested that the government should set up of a youth commission to ensure job opportunities for them.
He said the government should work on a war footing in taking up flood relief measures and provide compensation to farmers who had lost their crops and families of those killed in recent rains.
