Attack on Bhutto aimed at disrupting normalcy: Iran

Dubai, Dec 27 (UNI) Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini today strongly condemned the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto saying the attack was aimed to disrupt normalcy in the Muslim neighbour.

The country, which have strong economic and political interests with Pakistan, condemned the terrorist act saying the act might have been perpetrated by any person, political parties or groups.

It also hoped that people as well as political parties in Pakistan would help the government to restore stability and tranquility.

Mr Hosseini also extended the sympathy of the Iranian government and the nation to the Pakistani government, nation and the relatives of Benazir Bhutto on the tragic event.

''We hope the Pakistani government will identify and bring to justice those behind such a criminal act and restore tranquility to the country,'' he underlined.

Continued uproars and unrest in the country is not to the benefit of the Pakistani people and would leave negative impact on the stability and security of the regional countries, he said.

Mr Hosseini also called on the Pakistani government to swiftly identify and arrest those responsible for the suicide bombing for putting an end to internal tensions in Pakistan, according the Iranian Khabar news network.
