Sultanpur, Dec 27 (UNI) The District administration here has swung in action over dumping of Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC) in the state capital, after an inquiry was initiated on orders of the state election commission.
A police team from Lucknow today examined Chanda, Sadar and Jagdishpur assembly constituencies here and will carry out inquivies at Isauli assembly seat tomorrow, official sources said.
In the inquiry, it was unearthed that in some cases, EPICs were issued twice in the same name, while in others, information (like father's name, house number, village name) were incorrect.
Besides, it was found EPIC was issued to a 'dead' man.
However, after examining about hundreds of cards, it was noted that the cards with errors had been dumped and correction work was handed over to a contractor.
