Bangalore, Dec 27 More than 7000 Kannada speaking people from all over the world would participate in the 5th World Kannada Conference scheduled to be held in Chicago, USA, from August 29, Association of Kannada Kootas of America (AKKA) President Ramesh Gowda said today.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the main theme of the Conference would be 'Showcasing the Talent and Heritage of World Kannadigas'.
The Conference would highlight the talent and success of Kannadigas worldwide who continued to value and cherish their Kannada heritage.
He said that seven renowned artists from Karnataka would participate in the Conference and give performance at eight cities in the US. The income generated from these charity shows would be donated to an organisation helping orphans in Karnataka. Last year USD 100,000 was donated to Shanthanayana Foundation which was constructing Hospital for Blind in Bangalore, he said.
Mr Gowda said that the rich culture and heritage, recent technology boom and what lies ahead for the State in next several decades would be displayed through exquisite artifacts, audio-visual presentations, paintings and photographs. The entire venue would be decorated to reflect the landscape, heritage and technology boom of Karnataka.
AKKA Director Prabhu Dev said that an understanding had been reached recently with Karnataka Government Department of Libraries under which AKKA would distribute Kannada books supplied by the State government in the US.
He said that AKKA had more than 45 Kannada organisations as its members and distribution of Kannada books supplied by the State government would be easy.
