Jaipur, Dec 26 (UNI) West Bengal had to fight tooth and nail before getting past a spirited Orissa in a five setter see-saw battle in men's group E of the 56th Senior National Volleyball Championsip for men&women at the SMS Indoor hall here today.
West Bengal lost the first two sets 23-25 and 30-32 but came back to win the next three sets 25-19,25-15, 15-7. They took 105 minutes to win the match.
Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh and Andhra Pradesh proved too good to their opponants as they recorded identical 3-0 victory over their rivals in their respective groups.
In the women's section, hosts Rajasthan earned applause from local fans when they thrashed Chandigarh 3-1 (25-20, 25-17, 25-27, 25-19) in 96 minutes in group D while Punjab faced little resistance before beating Uttar Pradesh 3-1 in 86 minutes in group E.
