Udupi ZP submits proposal to help people in naxal-hit places

Udupi, Dec 26 (UNI) The Udupi Zilla Panchayat has submitted a proposal seeking special grants from the state government to improve the economic conditions of the people in 13 naxal affected villages in the district.

Briefing newspersons ZP President Raju Poojary said that the ZP had sought a special grant of Rs 10 lakh each for 13 Gram Panchayats for implementing the scheme in these villages.

Among the 13 villages, six were in Kundapura taluk and seven others in Karkala and there was noticeable naxal movement in the area, he added.
