Russia to deliver S-300 missile systems to Iran
Moscow, Dec 26 (UNI) Russia is expected to begin delivery of S-300 PMU1 air defence systems to Iran in 2008 under a deal signed earlier.
''In line with a contract signed several years ago, Russia will deliver S-300PMU1 air defence systems to Iran,'' a source in the Russian Defence Ministry told Interfax-AVN military news agency today.
He was commenting on Iranian Defence Minister Mostafa Najjar's remarks about the deliveries of Russian air defence systems to Iran.
Earlier this year, Russia supplied Tor-M1 missiles to Iran under a 700 million dollar contract signed in 2005. The US protested the deal, which it feared could boost the military capabilities of Iran.
