Rahul Bakshi continues to lead at Sunfeast All India

New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) Chandigarh's Rahul Bakshi shot two-under par 70 to his overnight 69 to set up a three-stroke lead at the half-way stage of the Sunfeast All India Junior/Sub-Junior golf championship here today.

Rahul was 5-under par 139 after 36 holes.

Close on the heels was local youngsters Angad Cheema who fired a 5-under 67 to leapfrog into third place at 1-over 145 along with Amanjyot Singh who played an equally good round of 4-under par 68.

Rashid Khan played a level par round to occupy the second position at 142.

Ankur Chadha who was leading in Category B with a total of 146 was fifth overall. Chikkarangappa also from Category B was joint sixth along with Abhijit S Chadha at 149.

Rahul who began from the 10th made a good start making a birdie on the 12th. He Adopted a defensive approach on the back nine, but committed the first mistake of the day when he made a bogey on the third.

But as the round progressed, he grew in confidence. After parring the next five holes, the 17-year-old signed off with a first birdie on the par-3 ninth.

Angad made four birdies on his front nine -- second, fourth, fifth and eighth. He began his back nine on a similar note making a birdie on the par-10th and added one more to his kitty on the 12th.

After being six-under for the day, he was sailing till he confronted a bogey on the 15th but after that he did not commit any more mistake.
