North Bengal make it a double

Chennai, Dec 26 (UNI) Fancied PSPB-A was robbed off a golden double as strong contenders North Bengal, in turn, walked away with double crown in the team events of National Sub-Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship here this evening.

In the sub-junior section North Bengal boys and Maharashtra-A girls bagged the titles, while PSPB-A boys and North Bengal girls won the Cadet titles.

In the sub-juniors final, North Bengal upset PSPB-A 3-1, while Maharashtra A defeated Delhi by a similar margin.

In the cadet's PSPB-A defeated West Bengal 3-1 and North Bengal completed the double defeating Andhra Pradesh 3-1.

Results : Team events : Finals : Sub Junior Boys : North Bengal bt PSPB-A 3-1 (Arnab Adhikari lost to Vivek Bhargava 11-7, 12-10, 8-11, 10-12, 8-11; Avik Das bt Abhishek Yadav 11-5, 11-2, 11-5; Arnab Adhikari/ Avik Das bt Vivek Bhargava/Abhishek Yadav 11-9, 8-11, 12-10, 5-11 11-8; Arnab Adhikari bt Abhishek Yadav 11-2, 11-5, 11-2).

Sub Junior Girls: Maharashtra-''A'' bt Delhi 3-1.

(Mallika Bhandarkar bt Aashita 11-3, 11-5, 11-8; Charvi Kawle bt Manika Batra 3-1, Mallika Bhandarkar/Charvi Kawle lost to Aashita Jain/Manika Batra 7-11, 9-11, 11-7, 9-11; Mallika Bhandarkar bt Manika Batra 11-8, 11-6, 11-5).

Cadet Boys: PSPB-A beat West Bengal 3-1 (Abhishek Yadav bt Aditya Moitra 11-3, 11-5, 11-6; Pankaj Vishwakarma lost to Sourav Ghosh 6-11, 3-11, 8-11; Abhishek Yadav/Pankaj Vishwakarma bt Aditya Moitra/Sourav Ghosh 11-6, 11-3, 7-11, 11-8; Abhishek Yadav bt Sourav Ghosh 11-6, 6-11, 11-3, 11-5).

Cadet Girls : North Bengal bt Andhra Pradesh 3-1 (Anuska Dutta bt Akshi Sancheti 9-11, 7-11, 13-11, 11-8; Oisarja Deb bt Spoorthy 11-5, 11-8, 11-9; Anuska Dutta/Oisarja Deb lost to Akshi Sancheti/Spoorthy 6-11, 10-12, 4-11; Anuska Dutta bt Spoorthy 11-0, 11-5, 11-8).
