Mumbai, Dec 26 (UNI) The working committee of the Maharashtra Pradesh NCP today discussed strengthening the organisation at the district level and fixing loopholes in matter of coordination.

The meeting was chaired by state unit president Arun Gujarathi and attended by Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, party ministers in the cabinet, MPs, MLAs and district unit chiefs.

Party spokesman Madan Bafna said barring Jalgaon and Kolhapur, the district units have been free of factional infighting.

Mr Gujarathi sought inputs from district chiefs on organisational strengthening and gave neccessary directives to ensure better co-ordination among all groups, Mr Bafna added.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr Patil said the Gujarat assembly election results would have no bearing on Maharashtra.

He said BSP's attempts to gain foothold in Maharashtra would not succeed.

Later in a brief interaction with mediapersons, Mr Patil described the recent outburst of Revenue Minister Narayan Rane as an internal matter of the Congress. He also asserted that it was wrong to attribute a political overtone to the recent meeting of NCP president Mr Sharad Pawar and Mr Bal Thackeray.

''They are friends for over 40 years and saheb had gone to inquire about Mr Thackeray's health,''he added.
