Shimoga, Dec 26: Kuvempu University has proposed to exchange students with its Chinese counterparts, Vice-Chancellor (VC) B S Sherigar said.
Inaugurating the Federation of Language Teachers of Kuvempu University and Colleges here yesterday, Kuvempu University VC said, under the proposal a few Chinese students would be admitted to the university to teach Chinese language and Kuvempu University students would be admitted to Chinese Universities to learn that language.
''During my recent visit to China, a talk was held in this regard and the response was positive, '' he added.
He said when subjects like Biotechnology and Computer Applications had been introduced in the country the intake of the students was very high. But, in due course, the strength had decreased.
He also said a 'module', comprising all subjects should be provided to the students to adjust with present social system.
Prof Sherigar said the student-teacher ratio in universities was imbalanced and he would draw the government's attention to the issue.
