Gujarat in commanding position after end of second day

By Staff

New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) Gujarat tightened the noose around Madhya Pradesh(MP) after skittling out the central Indian state for a paltry 93 runs in their first innings on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Plate League match here today.

Gujarat, who made 192 in their first essay, were 98 for two, a total lead of 187 with eight second innings wickets intact at the close of the day's play.

It was a disastrous batting performance from Madhya Pradesh with as many as eight of their batsmen failing to reach double figures.

A Singh, who took four wickets, was the pick of the Gujarat bowlers on a day which saw 11 wickets falling.

Resuming on their overnight score of three for the loss of one wicket, MP received a jolt early on when J Saxena was sent back by J Trivedi.

Thereafter, MP lost wickets at regular intervals as their innings folded up for a mere 93 runs.

In Gujarat's second innings, P Patel was not out on 15 at the draw of stumps.
