Former Cong MLA killed in road accident

Thane, Dec 26 (UNI) Former Congress MLA from Bhiwandi Bango Nana Bhoir was killed in a road accident near the powerloom town of Bhiwandi today.

Bhoir (85) was walking on the road between Bhiwandi and Vajreshwari when a speeding motorbike knocked him down at Saouroli village.

He succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital, his family members said. Bhoir is survived by three daughters and two sons, all married.

Bhoir, who was responsible for the growth of the Party in Thane district, was MLA from Bhiwandi in the early 50's.

He was connected with various social organisations and co-operative societies. He was also the director of the Maharashtra Co-operative Marketing Federation and was honoured by the then President Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma for his contribution to the growth of co-operative movement in Thane district and the state.

Leaders from all political parties mourned the death of Bhoir.

He will be cremated late in the evening at his village near Bhiwandi.
