Sukhbir rejects Bhattal's demand for white paper

Rupnagar, Dec 25 (UNI) Rejecting the demand of PPCC president Rajinder Kaur Bhattal for bringing a white paper on the financial position of the state, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) working president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said that she did not know the meaning of a white paper.

Talking to mediapersons here, Mr Badal said that no white paper had ever been issued on the financial position anywhere, therefore there was no need for any white paper in Punjab.

He said that instead of clearing the debt and increasing the income of the state, the previous Congress government had paid the interest of the debt. He said it was for the first time that the income of the state was increasing and an amount of Rs 1000 crore had been collected through VAT.

" We are increasing the income of the state and clearing the liabilities", he added.

He said that Punjab was on the path of progress and the SAD would fulfill all the commitments made to the people of the state.

He claimed that his family had neither indulge in corruption nor would do so and warned that strict action would be taken against anybody found indulging in corruption in the name of the Badal family.

Mr Badal evaded questions on any proposed move of the government to withdraw various subsidies including free power in the state.

Earlier, Mr Badal, who was allowed to visit Italy, received his passport from the court of Special Judge G S Saran after he had furnished a personal bond of Rs five lakh and a surety bond of the same amount which was furnished by Parampreet Singh Paul.
