IFWJ national council meeting from Dec 30

Bangalore, Dec 25 (UNI) The national council meeting of the Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ) will be held at Adichunchinagiri Mahasamasthana Math, 60 km from here from December 30 to January two, IFWJ Vice-President H B Madan Gowda said today.

Talking to newspersons here, he said more than 1,000 delegates from various parts of the country, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan would participate in the four-day meeting in which burning issues concerning journalists would be discussed.

Seminars on 'Media and Human Rights' would be held on January one under the presidentship of senior journalist from Uttarkhand P C Tiwari and on 'Media and Terrorism' on January two. Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Subodh Kant Sahay would participate as chief guest, he informed.

Balagangadharanatha Swamiji of Adichunchinagiri Math would inaugurate the meeting while Union Minister for Transportation K H Muniyappa would release a special issue brought out to mark the occasion, he added.

Union Minister of State for Planning M V Rajashekharan would deliver the valedictory address on January two with Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur presiding over the function.

Replying to a question, Mr Gowda said issues relating to Wage Board would be discussed during the meeting.
