Four-day international film festival begins

Chennai, Dec 25 (UNI) The four-day International Film Festival of Tamil Nadu-2007 began here today at the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce.

According to the festival authorities, the festival was being organised in association with film and television production firm 'Seventh Channel Communications', for the fourth consecutive year.

This year, it would feature non-commercial films.

Nearly 20 films from more than a dozen countries would be screened.

The theme this year was environment, with special focus on the impact of global warming.

Themes of the previous editions had included 'Togetherness' and 'Universal Love'.

Besides films on environment, other genres would also be screened.

Some of the films to be screened have bagged international awards and are critically acclaimed.

Various films, including 'Working Man's Death', a documentary from Austria which had won more than 18 awards in various film festivals in 2005-06, German movie 'Komm Susser Tod', which had won several awards and 'My Brother's Summer' from Italy which got special mention at the Montreal Film Festival would also be screened, the officials added.
