Fatehabad, Dec 25 (UNI) The police today booked a Delhi based couple and their son for duping a villager with the promise of sending him to Canada .

Lakhbir Singh, a resident of village Kanakheri in this district had lodged a complaint against the trio in this regard, police sources here said.

He said in his complaint that he met Himanshu, his father Anil and Anil's wife during a train journey last year and during conversation they offered to arrange his trip to Canada for Rs 6 lakh.

Himanshu called him to Delhi with Rs 1 lakh and his passport, which he delivered to his parents in Himanshu's absence.

After a few days, Himanshu demanded a further amount of Rs 3 lakh, which he paid to him on July 13 last year. On August 17 last year, Himanshu again demanded Rs 50,000 for purchase of his ticket and told him that his visa papers and the ticket would be delivered in a few days.

He alleged that since then the trio had failed to deliver anything and had now threatened to liquidate him, in case he demanded back his money or visa papers. He then reported the matter to the police.
