Chhattisgarh ryots against acquisition
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Dec 25 (UNI) Peasants hailing from nine villages in this district have resorted to the agitational path against acquisition of more than 2,000 acres of farmland, by the Chhattisgarh government, for setting up an industrial area.
Several residents of Kirarigodi, Godi, Udgan, Bhainsbod, Dodki, Kewanchi, Pendarwa, Sambalpuri and Dhauranbhata yesterday submitted -- to Collector Subodh Kumar Singh -- a memorandum addressed to President Pratibha Patil.
The memo claimed that thousands rejected the proposed industrial area during a public hearing at Bilha on February 27.
