Kolkata, Dec 25 (UNI) Refuting the charges, All India Forward Bloc state secretary Ashok Ghosh today said AIFB's rally in Nandigram on December 23 was in the "right decision".

"(Jyoti) Mr Basu is a veteran Marxist leader and I don't know what Mr Basu has said". "But the AIFB rally in Nandigram was the right decision and we would have committed great mistake if we did not hold the rally there" Mr Ghosh told newspersons while refuting charges made by former chief minister Jyoti Basu against AIFB yesterday.

Mr Ghosh said after the March 14 incidents in Nandigram, it was decided in the Left Front meeting that a peace initiative would have to be initiated at social, political and economic levels in the area.

But the decision was not implemented, the AIFB leader said.

"We have also asked the Left Front chairman Biman Bose for sending a Front delegation to Nandigram to see the affected people and area and for taking peace process", Mr Ghosh said. " But he (Biman Bose) told me that the discussion was going on in district level and that too was not implemented," accsued the Bloc leader.

He said it was also unacceptable to the AIFB the way the administration and the party cadres took action to restore peace and control over Nandigram on November 9 and 11.

Mr Ghosh said, "we had also told in the LF meeting to take decision unitedly in the presence of Mr Jyoti Basu but it was not done, so we were bound to hold the rally in Nandigram and it was the right decision." "We have already sent letter to the various political parties and would also send to Mr Jyoti Basu within a day or two in this regard," Mr Ghosh said.
