Patiala Dec 24 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh ADGP (Law and Order) Bhupinder Singh Thind has been granted exemption from personal appearance in a court for today in connection with a fraud case.

A local court had issued non-bailable warrants (NBW) against Bhupinder Singh Thind on December 10, asking the police to produce the ADGP in the court by December 24.

Following this, Thind moved an application in a Patiala court seeking bail which was granted to him on the condition that he would present himself before the Rajpura court on December 24.

However, Thind today moved an application in the Rajpura court seeking exemption from personal appearance in the court, praying that he had to appear before the Shimla session court in connection with some other case.

The application was moved by Thind through his counsel. After receiving the application and a copy of summons sent by Thind, the court granted him the exemption for today and fixed January 9 as the next date of hearing.

Thind was charged for fraudulently selling a prime piece of land in Chaparchirdi village near Dera Bassi. The land belonged to NRI Prithpal Kaur, who had filed a complaint against the ADGP, through her niece Aninder Jawanda, accusing the ADGP of selling her land by getting a fake general power of attorney made in his own name.
