Punjab assembly pays tributes to former minister

Chandigarh, Dec 24 (UNI) The Punjab Vidhan Sabha today paid rich tributes to former minister Raghunath Shahi Puri, who passed away on last Saturday.

The condolence resolution was moved in the House by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and adopted unanimously. Leader of the Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattal also paid tributes to Mr Puri who was a minister in the previous Congress government headed by Capt Amarinder Singh.

The House also condoled the death of freedom fighter Mukand Lal Bhandari, who also passed away last week. A two minute silence was observed in memory of the departed souls.

The House was adjourned for half an hour as a mark of respect to Mr Puri and Mr Bhandari.
