NGO files criminal complaint against IT minister Narvekar

Panaji, Dec 24 (UNI) A complaint alleging criminal misappropriation, fraud and breach of trust was filed today at the Panjim Police Station against Goa's Information&Technology Minister Dayanand Narvekar.

The complaint filed by NGO Utt Goenkara spokesman Aires Rodrigues was handed over to the Panaji Sub-Divisional Police Officer Mohan Naik amid slogan shouting against the minister by the activists.

The complaint filed u/s 406 and 409 of IPC and Secs 7 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act pertains to the giving away of 1.80 lakh square metres of land by the InfoTech Corporation of Goa headed by the minister for setting up an IT Habitat at Dona Paula plateau at an average rate of Rs 4,500 per sq mt, as against the market price of land varying between Rs 20,000 to Rs 35,000 per sq mt.

The complaint had also been filed against the ITG vice-chairman and its Managing director.

The complaint states that the minister and others had allotted the public land to persons without auction and in a clandestine manner which has caused a loss of crores of rupees to the state exchequer.

Speaking to mediapersons later outside the station, Mr Rodrigues stated that the real estate fraud in the name of IT Park at Dona Paula needed to be exposed and the minister must be booked.

Earlier Dilip Diukar, Panch of Taleigao Panchayat, had filed a similar complaint against the minister and others two days ago with the Panjim Police station.
