Modi tenders resignation of his govt to Guj Governor

Gandhinagar, Dec 24 (UNI) Gujarat Governor Naval Kishore Sharma today accepted the resignation of Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his council of ministers in view of the completion of their current tenure in power.

Mr Modi met the Governor this morning at his official residence at 'Rajbhavan' and submitted his resignation from the post of chief minister. He also tendered resignations of his council of ministers to Mr Sharma.

After accepting the resignations, Mr Sharma requested Mr Modi to continue on the post as a caretaker chief minister till the new government is formed.

The Governor also thanked Mr Modi and his council of ministers for their co-operation with him during their five years' long administrative tenure.

Mr Modi and his party, BJP emerged victorious in the 2007 Gujarat Assembly elections.

The Governor was also said that Mr Modi and his new ministry will take their oath at Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad tomorrow.
