Measures underway to tackle officers' shortage: Air Msl Barbora

Shillong, Dec 24 (UNI) The Indian Air Force today said that they will soon overcome the crisis of shortage of officers in certain sections through short service commission appointments with the minimum tenure of 14 years.

Talking to mediapersons at the Eastern Air Command headquarters here, Eastern Air Command Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Air Marshal P K Barbora, said the Force has its own policy and guidelines and allows the officers to leave the force in certain cases such as age, future career prospects and promotion.

He said IAF is prepared to meet any eventualities be it war, confrontation, natural calamities or social service to the people, when required.

Expressing serious concern over the insurgency problem in North Eastern region, the Air Marshal urged the outfits to come over ground for a dialogue to sort out their grievances.

He said peace and stability is pre-requisite for any kind of development in a region but the militants were the stumbling block in the path of development resulting in destruction.
