Kathmandu, Dec 24 (UNI) As major political parties in Nepal reach an agreement to declare the nation a republic, Maoist Chairman Prachanda has said here today that his party will rejoin the government within the next few days.
''Maoists will rejoin the government as the Sunday's agreement among seven-party achieved many achievements,'' Kantipur quoted Prachand as saying.
Prachand said, "the republic has come in the country and some formalities and technicalities remained to abolish monarchy.'' ''The Constituent Assembly elections should not be deferred again once a new date for the polls is fixed,'' Prachanda stated and stressed the need to be united for nationalism and sovereignty.
Maoists ministers had resigned after the prime minister rejected their demand to declare Nepal a republic from the parliament and introduce proportionate representative electoral system.
However, the Maoists agreed to declare republic and formalise it by the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly election to be held within a few months time.
