underwent
an
open
heart
surgery
in
a
super-speciality
hospital
here,
was
shifted
to
the
general
ward.
'He is recovering well' Wockhardt Hospital CEO Vishal Bali told the sources today. Dr Bali said Mr Kumaraswamy has been shifted to the general ward after the surgery was successfully carried out by a five-member team of doctors to replace the blocked 'calcific aortic valve' on December 20. ''He is absolutely in good condtioon. From today, he will be given proper diet. Hitherto, he was on liquid food,''Dr Bali said. Replying to a question, he said 'Mr Kumaraswamy may have to stay in the hospital for another one week.
However, if he continues to recover at the present rate, he may be discharged by Saturday.''Mr Kumaraswamy was admitted to the hospital on December 18 for following chest pain. After a complete checkup, the JD(S) leader was operated on December 20 for valve replacement.
