J'khand govt to meet on Dec 28 to finalise RR policy

Jamshedpur, Dec 24 (UNI) A crucial meeting to give the final shape of the long-awaited Rehabilitation and Resttelement policy of Jharkhand government will be held on December 28 in Ranchi, according to Deputy Chief Minister Sudhir Mahto.

Mr Mahto told reporters here today the government was studying the central RR policy and after reviewing the points the final draft would be sent to the cabinet for approval.

He said the government's thrust would be on for better facilities to the displaced persons, who would provide their land for the new development projects and industries.

"We shall try to provide a compact rehab packeges, which are even better than the the centre's proposal, to the people so that they do not suffer due to setting up of new industries", Mr Mahto asserted.

To a question Mr Mahto said the state government was concerned about the power situation, which would be improved soon.

About the Centre's refusal to sign a Memoranduam of Agreement (MOA) under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for Jamshedpur, citing pending case in the apex court between the state government and Tata Steel, Mr Mahto said the government had already initiated talks regarding the matter and it would be sorted out soon. "The steel city of Jamshedpur will get its due share", he assured.

Mr Mahto said the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) would celebrate the 57th birth anniversary of the slain party leader Nirmal Mahto for three days at Ulyan here from tomorrow and the party supremo Shibu Soren, Congress leader and central minister Subodh Kant Sahay and many other senior JMM leaders would grace the occasion.
