Kunming, China, Dec 24 (UNI) Stressing the need to enhance mutual trust and cooperation, India today invited China to have the next military exercise in its territory.
Deputy Chief of Indian Army Staff, Sushil Gupta, who along with senior officers arrived here this evening, said it was absolutely essential to have mutual trust and Kunming joint training was a great opportunity to strengthen between the two nations.
''I have been following the joint military training closely and the way it's been organised is praiseworthy,'' he said adding that this was a step in right direction and would go a long way in improving quality interaction between the two forces.
The Deputy Chief further said the joint training has set the stage for mutual friendship and would be a corner stone in improving relationship between the two nations.
China has said it would consider the Indian proposal to have next joint exercise in India.
Lt General M A Xixotian, Deputy Chief of Staff, Peoples Liberation Army (pla) said, ''I fully agree on it and we will give it a serious thought.'' Earlier, terming terrorism a major threat to international peace, both the nations said the cooperation between the armies would be useful in containing the menace.
