Kolkata, Dec 24 (UNI) The days of the UPA government at the Centre was numbered with the landslide victory of the BJP in Gujarat, Party Mahila Morcha national president Kiran Maheswari said today.

Addressing mediapersons here, Ms Maheswari said Narendra Modi's win in recent Gujarat poll was the victory of ''peoples power'' over ''money power''.

''It is a major threat to the Manmohan Singh government,'' she reiterated.

Ms Maheswari also alleged that the Congress had used communal card against the BJP during the election campaign in Gujarat which failed to have any impact on the poll result.

'' People of Gujarat voted for Narendra Modi as his government has worked for overall development of the state ignoring all allegations against it,'' Ms Maheswari observed.

She also alleged that the Congress-led UPA government had failed to implement 33 per cent reservation for women during its four-years regime adding that the Mahila Morcha would take out a rally on February 21 in New Delhi in this regard.

Lambasting the Left Front government in West Bengal for violence in Nandigram, Ms Maheswari said atrocities against women had reached its peak in the state.

She also said sending away of Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen out of West Bengal was a 'clear instance of step-motherly treatment towards women in the state.' UNI
