Sydney, Dec 24 (UNI) A two-year-old girl died after being left in a car parked outside a house in Perth, western Australia for more than an hour during hot weather.
The parents of the girl returned to their Maddington yesterday and left the child in the car before taking another vehicle to pick up their older children, police said.
They realised the child was still in the car when they could not find her in the house, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported.
Inspector Trevor Davis said their attempts to resuscitate the girl failed and she had died by the time doctors arrived.
''The fact that the child was left in the car for what I understand was over an hour and with the heat that we had yesterday certainly would have been major contributing factors.'' The temperature reached a top of 34.4 degrees Celsius in Perth last afternoon.
