Bangalore, Dec 23 (UNI) Former Karnataka Home Minister P G R Sindhia has been made Bahujan Samaj Party's (BSP) National General Secretary.
Addressing a public meeting organised by the state unit of the BSP here today, party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati announced the appointment of Mr Sindhia, who recently quit the JD(S), as party's national general secretary.
Ms Mayawati said the party would benefit immensely from admitting Mr Sindhia into the party.
M Muniyappa was made state president and the outgoing president B Gopal was nominated to Party's Central Executive Committee, the highest policy making body.
Ms Mayawati also announced the formation of State Election Committee consisting of Mr Sindhia, Mr B Gopal, Mr Vir Singh (Party observer for Karnataka) and B Muniyappa.
The Committee was entrusted with shortlisting the names to contest in the coming Assembly elections in the state.
