Rajkot, Dec 23 (UNI) Gujarat Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala today said the all round progress and good governance under Narendra Modi government paid dividend to the BJP as the party got an emphatic victory in the Assembly elections.
Dissidents failed to make any dent in the BJP bastion, he said.
Talking to mediapersons after he won the assembly election from Rajkot-ll constituency where he defeated his nearest rival Kashmiraben Nathwani (Cong) by 9856 votes, Mr Vala said once again people have put their faith in the BJP giving it the mandate to rule for the next five years.
It was Mr Vala's sixth consecutive victory from Rajkot-ll constituency on BJP ticket since 1985.
He further said BJP had fufilled all the promises which it made in previous elections and would continue to work for the people in future.
He stressed the focus on Industrial, Agriculture and Service development programmes would continue for the generation of more employment opportunities.
He also promised that his government would construct two lakh houses for the poor and downtrodden people in one year and added that the societies such people were staying would be regularised.
In reply to a question, he said, ''BJP would continue to rule till it holds credibility among the people.'' The finance minister said no new taxes were imposed on the public and the state made all round progress on all fronts, including drinking water, electricity and roads.
