One died in BJP-Congess workers clash in Kadi town

Mehsana, (Gujarat) Dec 23 (UNI) At least one person died and three others sustained injuries in a clash between two groups of BJP and Congress workers during a celebration procession in Kadi town of Mehsana district in North Gujarat this afternoon.

According to Mehsana DSP Raju Bhargava trouble started when winning procession of BJP candidate Nitinbhai Patel's crossed with Congress workers at Bhagwati Socieity locality in Kadi town which led to stone pelting at each other.

Mr Bhagava said, police patrolling party had immediately rushed to the spot and attempted to control the situation with lathi-charge and lobbing of tear-gas shells. However, when situation failed to come under control police fired at least 22-rounds in the air to quell rioters.

No one was injured in the police firing, but, one person died in stone petling and three others sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to civil hospital at Kadi town.
