Chandigarh, Dec 23 (UNI) Haryana will have one more hockey astro turf which will be laid out in the new sports stadium of Sirsa at a cost of Rs 8.5 crore.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the proposal for the astro turf had been approved by the State Government and laying out ceremony of the turf would be inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda soon.
This decision had been taken as a large number of hockey players of the district who were the members of Indian Hockey team had shown outstanding performances at the international hockey events.
He said that Gyms would be set up in 14 villages of Sirsa district. Two villages of each block of the district would be selected for setting up of Gyms which would not only encourage the youth in maintaining physical fitness but would also attract them towards sports.
He said that sports stadia having all the latest sports facilities would be constructed in the rural areas all across the state at a cost of Rs 65 crore to give a major fillip to sports in rural areas. Sports nurseries and wings had been established in the state to tap the potential of budding players and create a sports environment which would bring fruitful results in future.
