BJP establishes early lead in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Dec 23: The BJP established early leads in 11 constituencies in Gujarat as counting of votes polled in the state assembly elections progressed today.

Of the 16 trends available, the Congress was ahead in four constituencies and its poll ally Nationalist Congress Party in one. Gujarat Education Minister and BJP candidate Anandiben Patel was leading in Patan. However, former deputy chief minister and Congress leader Narhari Amin was trailing in Matar.

Among the constituencies where the BJP was leading were -- Kankrej, Rajula, Vagra, Mahudha, Umbergaon and Vadgam. The Congress was ahead in Jamalpur, Borsad, Vijapur and Sami. The NCP was leading in Gondal.
