AP, Maharashtra emerge champions

Nellore, Dec 23 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra today emerged team champions in the boy's and girl's sections respectively, defeating Air India 2-0 and Andhra Pradesh 2-1 in the 32nd Junior National Badminton Championship here.

In boy's section, AP's Guru Sai Dutt won the singles by trouncing Arun Nandaluri of Air India 21-12, 21-14 and in the doubles partnering with K Tarun outclassed Arun Nandaluri and Aditya Elango 21-18, 21-15.

In girl's section, Maharashtra's Kadambari Chheda beat N Sikki Reddy of AP 15-21, 17-21 in the singles, while Pradnya Garde and Sweta Kelkar of Maharashtra outwitted Sikki Reddy and J Shruthi (AP) 11-21, 21-12,21-16 in the doubles.

In the second singles, Mudra Dhainje (Mah) crushed J Shruthi (AP) 21-16, 21-08 to win the team championship.

The organisers presented the 'Narang Cup' to the winners in boy's section and 'Shafi Qureshi Cup' to the girl's section winners.
