Chittorgarh, Dec 22 (UNI) Police fired in the air and exploded tear gas shells to disperse a mob indulged in stone pelting and arson following the slaguhter of a cow in Sindhiom ka Kheda under Kapasan sub division of Chittorgarh district today.
The situation now is said to be tense but under control.
According to police sources the carcass of a cow was found in a well in Sindhiom ka Kheda and the agitated villagers had been staging a dharna at Gumanpura circle in protest against the incident. The incident took a violent and communal turn with the villagers beat up a minority community member and torched some cabins and private bus. They also torched some fields owned by members of minority community. In the afternoon the a mob laid a seige of a village mainly inhabited by the minority community and torched some fields, forcing the police to fire tear gas shells and later in the air to disperse the violent crowd.
In the incident one vehicle of the fire service and three police vehicles were damaged while six police personnel suffered injuries.
Meanwhile Chirrogarh Viswa Hindu Parishad has called for a Kapasan bandh tomorrow in protest against the incident.
