Vadodara, Dec 22 (UNI) Braving the threat from a couple of Sangh Parivar-backed youth organisations, theatre owners in the city today started screening Aamir Khan-starrer new film 'Taare Zameen Par', a day after the movie was released across the country.

The film was released by the PVR multiplex and Pratap theatre this afternoon amid tight police security. And no untoward incident was reported so far, police sources said.

Although the film was released across Gujarat yesterday, the owners of the multiplexes and other threatres in Vadodara were forced by the Sardar Patel Group and Hind Rakshak organisations not to screen the movie after their volunteers ransacked a couple of theatres, which had begun advance booking for the film.

The leaders of the two organisations, owing allegiance to BJP and VHP, had warned the threatre owners not to release the movie until its actor-director Aamir Khan tender an apology to the people of the state for his remarks against the Narmada Dam, which is considered as the lifeline of Gujarat.

According to political circles here, the release of the movie in Vadodara is unlikely to invite immediate trouble as the leaders of the two outfits are busy in view of the counting of votes tomorrow.
