'Similarity between Guru Nanak, 'Bakthi' movement exponents'
Chennai, Dec 22 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala today said there was a similarity between Guru Nanak and exponents of 'Bakthi' movement in the state.
Releasing a book authored by Manicka Shanmugam here, he said Gurunanak condemned the soulless and heartless rituals, which were performed without trying to realise the presence of God within oneself.
''He was a cosmopolitan and this reminds us of one of the Tamil Sangam poet's verses--Every village is the village of my birth and every one is my kith and kin,'' he said.
Mr Barnala pointed out that Guru Nanak like the exponents of 'Bakthi' movement in Tamil Nadu composed poems in the language of the commonman.
