Nashik, Dec 22 (UNI) Pravin Mahajan, the younger brother of slain senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan who was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Sessions Court at Mumbai on December 18, was brought to Nashik Central Jail here today.
According to sources, Pravin was brought to the jail this evening at around 1730 hrs to serve the life term. Before being shifted, he was placed in the Arthur Road Jail in Central Mumbai, Earlier, on December 17, the court convicted Pravin in connection with the BJP General Secretary Pramod Mahajan murder case. The verdict found him guilty of murder under Section 302 and criminal trespassing under Section 449 of the Indian Penal Code.
On April 22 last year, Pravin fired three bullets at his elder brother in the latter's flat in the Poornima building at Worli in South Central Mumbai, after having an argument over some property dispute. He later surrendered before the police. Pramod succumbed to his injuries on May 3, 2006.
After completing the official formalities, the authorities here admitted Pravin into the jail. Other details about his stay in the Central Jail were not known till reports last came in.
