NRIs urged to boycott AI, Indian flights
Kozhikode, Dec 22 (UNI) The All India Airport Users Forum (AIAUF) today urged Non-Resident Indians to boycott Air India and Indian flights, deployed in the Gulf region, for ''violating human rights.'' Talking to newspersons here, AIAUF General Secretary K M Basheer said it was a clear case of rights violation as the state-owned airlines introduced outdated planes as against new aircraft in the US and Europe sector.
He said flights operating in the gulf region often developed technical snags, leading to frequent cancellation of schedules causing inconvenience to passengers.
The government seemed to be adamant as it failed to improve the situation, despite agitations by various organisations during the last couple of months.
Besides, he said, the airline companies charged exhorbitant fare in the Gulf sector compared to the other sectors.
He also announced plans to intensify agitation to press their demands.
