No connections to those occupying govt land

Chandigarh, Dec 22 (UNI) The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) has decided not to release new connections to the dwellers occupying government or HUDA land unauthorisedly.

Similarly, no electric connection would be released to the dwellers on land belonging to Municipal Committee or Panchcyats in case these were taking steps to eject the illegal squatters or object to release of connection to the dweller, a UHBVN spokesman said.

He said for the release of permanent electric connection to the area developed by colonisers or developers in the Nigam's jurisdiction, the coloniser or developer would be required to submit the layout plan to the Nigam for approval within a specified period of three months after release of temporary connection for construction.

They would also provide land or bear the cost of land jointly with other colonisers or developers in the area so that infrastructure was created to handle their ultimate requirement.

Temporary connection would be allowed for a maximum period of three months and would be disconnected if the lay out plan was not submitted in the stipulated time period.

He said that in case of bulk supply connections the applicants would be required to give an undertaking that the tariff rate charged by them from the residents would not exceed the rates approved by the Nigam.

It would be mandatory to install three phase four wire static energy meter having dual registration facility for recording consumption through Nigam's system as well as through their own Diesel Generating sets on failure of Nigam's supply.

The spokesman said the applicants would also submit an affidavit that they would hand over or change the connection in the name of Resident Welfare Association after 50 per cent occupancy. Occupancy statement would be filed every month.

However, after two years, extension to the colonizer or developer would be on yearly basis and only in case there was no Resident Welfare Association (RWA).

The moment RWA was formed, the bulk supply connection would be shifted to RWA, he added.
