Aizawl, Dec 22(UNI) Mizoram Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYC) has demanded resignation of Chief Minister Zoramthanga and his minister (food, civil supplies&consumer affairs) K Sangthuama from the MNF ministry for their ''inability'' to solve the prevailing rice crisis in the state.

Both the chief minister and the supplies minister have no capability on how to solve the food crisis problem, the state has been facing due to Mautam (bamboo flowering), the MPYC alleged today.

In a statement it demanded both the ministers should resign taking moral responsibility to solve the current food crisis.

The Youth Congress slammed the chief minister's reported warning to the Centre about the danger of recurrence of Mautam related rebellion (the like of Laldenga-led 20-year-long insurgency triggered by the previous Mautam in the early sixties) unless the New Delhi acted upon to relieve Mizos from the present ''Mautam famine.'' ''Will the chief minister revolt again after eating up all the centrally-sponsored Baffacos (Bamboo Flowering and Famine Combat Scheme) funds?'' the statement asked.

''We are unlucky to have a chief minister like Mr Zoramthanga who still thinks he is a rebel leader as well request Mr K Sangthuama to step down from the ministry as he miserably had failed to ensure supply of adequate rice to the state,'' the statement added.
