Chennai, Dec 22 (UNI) The Janata Dal (United) in Tamil Nadu today demanded a judicial probe by a sitting Supreme Court Judge into the alleged encroachment of Poromboke lands by the ruling DMK and its ally, the PMK.

Talking to reporters here, JD(U) State President K Rajasekaran said going by the recent war of words between Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy and PMK Founder-Leader S Ramadoss it was clear there was encroachment of government lands.

Observing a probe by Madras High Court Judge would not bring the truth to light, he urged the State Government to order a judicial inquiry, as demanded by the PMK leader, headed by a sitting Supreme court Judge.

The probe committee should also contain a senior journalist and a honest retired IPS and IAS official.

He said the JD-U would celebrate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Morarji Desai at Erode on February 29 in which Party National President Sharad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would attend.

The JD-U would also organise a demonstration in all district headquarters on January 4 to protest the 'unannounced power cuts' in the State.
